Q: Are completegreen protein and whey protein powders safe for children?

Protein is a key component of everyone’s diet however the recommended dietary intakes for protein vary by age and by a child’s current dietary intake and activity level.

The nutrition facts and recommended serving sizes on product labels are intended for adults. We recommend that families discuss their children’s dietary needs with a qualified health care practitioner.

 

Q: Are protein powders safe to consume during pregnancy?

Our completegreen protein and whey proteins are considered foods and so should be safe to consume for any member of the population, including pregnant women.

However, because dietary needs during pregnancy are different, and different between individuals (based on current dietary intake, activity level, age, etc.) we recommended that women discuss their dietary concerns with a qualified health care practitioner.

Q: When does my product expire?

An expiry date and lot number is printed on every Leanfit product. You can find the expiry date between the lid and label in yellow, orange or black ink on most products. On the new silver labels of whey protein products and on the 1.02kg completegreen protein bottles, the expiry date is found in black near the bottom of the label.

Q: Do you test your products for heavy metals?

Yes, we test all the ingredients that go into our products for heavy metals and other contaminants, and only approve and use those that pass very high purity standards.  As the manufacturer of all LeanFit products,  we have strict control over every ingredient used in production.  We take care to source our ingredients from trusted suppliers who consistently meet our quality standards.  Leanfit products are made in a Canadian facility under Health Canada’s Good Manufacturing Practices.

Q: Where is it manufactured?

A: All Leanfit® products are manufactured in Leanfit’s facility in Maple Ridge, BC, Canada

Q: Do the enzymes in LeanFit products come from plant or animal sources?

The enzymes in the completegreen protein and the whey protein powders come from plant or microbial sources, not animal sources.

The Whey Protein Shakes (100% Whey & 100% Whey Isolate) & the completegreen protein have been certified as Kosher which confirms that there are no animal by-products besides the whey itself. Newer bottles will display the Kosher logo but no changes were necessary to the formula to qualify for this certification.

Q: Are LeanFit products safe for my allergies?

Please refer to the product labels and information on website product pages for allergen statements for the ingredients in each product.

LeanFit products are manufactured in a peanut free facility.

Q: Are LeanFit products safe for elite athletes who may undergo drug testing?

The LeanFit 100% Whey (Vanilla & Chocolate flavours) is certified through Informed Choice which confirms that the product is free of banned substances through routine testing in its accredited lab.

All LeanFit products are made in our GMP facility which manufactures multiple products that are certified by Informed Choice.

Q: Did LeanFit Protein used to be called GFR Whey Protein?

GFR Health owns the LeanFit brand. On some labels and store signage, you will see LeanFit products referred to as “GFR Whey Protein” or “GFR Whey Isolate Protein.”

Although the labels may have been updated, they are the same products.

Q: Why should I supplement my diet with protein?

Q: My container didn’t contain a measuring scoop – what is the measure for one serving?

Sometimes the scoop settles and you may have to dig for it. If you are unable to find your scoop, the equivalent sizes are listed below. If you would like a replacement scoop please contact us..

Leanfit® Whey Protein and 100% Isolate Protein: The scoop is 90cc which is the equivalent of 6 tablespoons.
completegreen protein: The scoop is 70cc which is the equivalent of 5 tablespoons.
Leanfit® All-in-One: 1 serving uses 2 scoops. 7 tablespoons is the equivalent of 1 serving.

Q: Can I use protein shakes in place of meals?

Leanfit protein shakes do not contain sufficient fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals to be considered a meal replacement. To make a convenient, nutritious meal in a glass, try adding a serving of fruit and a teaspoon of flaxseed or olive oil to your protein drink to create a convenient nutritious meal in a glass.

Q: Can I cook with protein powders?

Yes, protein powders can be added to muffins, pancakes or other baked good recipes to increase its protein content. Keep in mind that heating any protein will cause it to denature, which is a change in the structure of the protein. While the structure changes, your body can still absorb the protein, just like it does with cooked meat or eggs.

Q: Can protein powders be mixed ahead of time to drink later?

Yes, however freshly mixed tastes best. If you choose not to consume your drink right after mixing, we suggest keeping it refrigerated and consuming it within 24 hours.

Q: Do I have to refrigerate my protein powder after opening?

No, LeanFit protein powders do not need to be stored in the fridge or freezer. You can store your LeanFit protein in a cool and dry place, out of direct sunlight.

Q: When should I take protein?

Protein may be taken anytime and anywhere. For muscle building, ideal times are in the morning and post workout. Take between meals if you want to suppress your appetite.

Q: Does whey protein powders start to break down after blending with fruit or milk?

If the pH of your shake is acidic (<5.0), then the protein will precipitate out of the shake. If the pH isn’t acidic, 2-3 hours in the fridge won’t affect it. If you are adding acidic juices or fruit to your shake, it should be consumed immediately after mixing.

Q: Do you have any products that aren’t sweetened with sugar or artificial sweeteners?

completgreen™ protein and All-in-One are sweetened with stevia. We also have a Plain 100% Whey product, which allows you to add the sweetener of your choice or none at all.

All of our protein products have no sugar added.

Q: Are LeanFit protein powders gluten-free?

Yes, the LeanFit whey protein powders, completegreen protein and All-in-One are gluten free.

Q: Can I get enough whey protein by drinking milk?

While whey protein comes from milk, the filtration process it goes through leaves trace amounts of lactose. LeanFit 100% Whey Protein contains less than one gram of lactose per serving and LeanFit 100% Whey Isolate Protein contains less than 0.5 g of lactose per serving.

While many lactose sensitive individuals are able to use whey proteins without irritation you should consult with a healthcare professional for your own dietary restrictions.

Q: Is whey protein suitable for a vegetarian diet?

Yes, whey protein is an excellent choice for vegetarians who include dairy products in their diet.

However, to be considered a meal replacement, products have to follow very specific levels of nutrients and calorie level including a minimum of 225 calories. To make a convenient, nutritious meal in a glass with LeanFit All-in-One, blend with a liquid of your choice and a teaspoon of healthy fats like flaxseed or olive oil.

Q: Is All-in-One safe for my children to drink?

All-in-One was formulated for adults. While the nutrients used are within safe levels for children over the age of 2, children have different nutritional needs than adults. It’s important to also take into consideration the other foods and/or supplements that a child is taking to be sure their nutritional needs are balanced.
